The Duramax LLY is the second generation of the legendary Duramax diesel engine family, which was produced by General Motors from 2004.5 to 2005 and developed through 2006. Designed for heavy-duty applications, the LLY powers GMC and Chevrolet trucks, solidifying the Duramax reputation for reliable performance, superior towing and innovative engineering.

Known for its powerful 6.6-liter V8 design, the LLY features an improved injector design, a variable geometry turbocharging system and cleaner emissions, marking it a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the LB7. With a peak horsepower of 310 and a torque of 605 lb-ft, the LLY Duramax is not only powerful, but also faster, thanks to the enhanced response of the variable geometry turbocharging system.

4. EGR valve failure
