Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel (2004-2007), the successor to the 7.3L Powerstroke, was designed to meet stricter emissions regulations. The engine was a collaboration between Ford and Navistar/International and was designed to outperform its predecessor and compete with other powerful diesel engines such as Cummins and Duramax. It incorporates many innovative technologies such as variable geometry turbocharging, digital fuel injection, four valves per cylinder and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system.
