Floor Mats Buyer's Guide
Factors to Consider When Buying a New Floor Mat
Floor mats are made from a wide variety of materials. Some have built-in features that serve both practical and aesthetic purposes. Before buying a replacement floor mat, you have to consider a few other factors: different floor mat brands, how often you use your car, the current season, and the road conditions you regularly drive through. These things will help you decide on the appropriate material, type, and extra features that you would want on your floor mat.
Material
There are three main materials used for floor mats for cars and other vehicles: carpet, rubber, and vinyl. Both vinyl and rubber floor mats are susceptible to cracking and damage due to heat, so be careful in handling or cleaning them.
Fit and Location
Make sure that the floor mat you're going to buy is compatible with your vehicle's year, make, and model. You can avoid gaps by choosing something that's made specifically for your vehicle's floors. However, universal and trim-to-fit liners are also great because you can cut them into any shape that you want.
Extra features
There are floor mats with specialized features that contribute to the safety and insulation of the passenger cabin. Some have contoured edges, raised lips, and channels that increase traction, hold spills, and filter liquids, dirt, and mud. Some are mold and mildew-resistant while others are designed to minimize heat and noise within the cabin.
Soft & Luxurious
Our carpet mats will protect your factory carpet while providing a custom touch and luxurious feel. Aftermarket carpet mats have a richer texture than original equipment with more ounces of yarn per square yard. They have a moisture resistant layer above a tough rubber backing. Choose from a wide range of carpet styles, materials, weights, and pile heights including cutpile, loop, nylon, and berber. For the ultimate in luxury, we offer the deepest pile available, a 48 ounce per yard mat that is over 3 times heavier than standard automotive carpeting, but with these installed we don't advise getting in your car with bare feet, because once you feel them you'll never want to drive wearing shoes again! You can also select from an extensive assortment of interior matching colors.
All-Weather Protection
If you regularly track mud and snow into your vehicle or transport pets and spill-prone kids, we recommend all-weather mats or liners. These products have many great features to them which ensure maximum surface protection and ease of maintenance:
Blocks or ridges provide traction and keep your feet above the muck.
Rubber or rubberized construction. It is tough, flexible, resistant to temperature extremes and even oils and battery acid.
Form-fit edges of floor liners conform to your vehicle's contours for maximum liquid containment.
Ease of cleaning. When the level of dirt, petrified French fries and spilled ice cream becomes intolerable, just take them out, hose them off, and you're ready to go.
For select applications we also offer mats with the plush look and feel of carpet that are just as effective at blocking crud and containing spills, and just as easy to clean.
More Options
Our floor mats and liners are available for the 1st and 2nd rows, and some are available with coverage for the center hump area. But if you own an SUV, crossover, or minivan you also need protection for its cargo area. Hauling pets and supplies from the home center can take their toll on the carpet in this space, and our cargo liners are designed to provide the same custom fit and level of protection as our floor mats and liners. And if you have a late model vehicle with carpet that is worn, torn, and threadbare, we offer replacement carpet in fade resistant colors, custom molded to the floor pan for a perfect fit.
