The ECM, or Engine Control Module, in the 6.4L Powerstroke continuously monitors EGR system operation. After the EGR system is physically removed, the ECM will no longer detect the expected exhaust gas recirculation flow and will identify a system fault.
This can cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate, trigger EGR-related diagnostic trouble codes, and may even place the vehicle into Limp Mode.
Professional tuning equipment, such as EZ Lynk, must be used to reprogram the ECU and disable EGR-related fault-code monitoring.

The factory dual EGR cooler system can cause coolant leaks, soot buildup, excessive under-hood heat, and frequent DPF regeneration. This kit addresses the four main problem areas below.
Extreme heat cycling and soot corrosion can crack the narrow coolant passages inside the EGR coolers. Coolant may then enter the exhaust system or cylinders, causing white smoke, bent connecting rods, hydrolock, or complete engine failure.
