🔓 Unleash 50–150+ Horsepower
The original DOC+DPF creates significant exhaust back pressure. After the upgrade, the engine "removes its mask," and with ECU tuning, the sealed power can be unlocked.
🌡️ EGT Temperature Reduction of 150–230°F
High-flow design significantly reduces exhaust temperature, effectively protecting the turbocharger and cylinder head gasket, making heavy-duty towing safer.
⚡ Significantly Reduced Turbo Lag
Smoother exhaust flow, faster turbo build-up, more direct throttle response, and more responsive everyday driving.
⛽ 60 Miles More Per Tank of Fuel
Improved engine efficiency and significantly reduced DPF regeneration result in significantly improved fuel economy.
🏗️ T-409 Stainless Steel + 2mm Wall Thickness
Heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant, the wrinkle-free bending process ensures a smooth inner wall and zero airflow resistance.
🎵 The Deep and Aggressive Roar of the Duramax
No muffler design, the turbo whistle is clearly audible, quiet during cruising, and exhilarating at full throttle.
Will only fit models equipped with the OEM style 4-bolt flange off the turbo direct pipe
Will not fit regular Cab
Will not fit the Cab & Chassis
This is a 4-inch Downpipe-Back exhaust system – a complete DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) delete solution that replaces the entire exhaust path from the turbo downpipe outlet all the way to the tailpipe.
Factory exhaust layout:
What this kit replaces (everything after the downpipe):
The factory DOC and DPF create massive exhaust backpressure. The engine has to fight against this restriction just to push exhaust out – that's "pumping loss". Here's what happens when you remove those bottlenecks:
Unleash Horsepower
Backpressure drops dramatically. With proper ECU tuning, the L5P can unlock 50–150+ additional horsepower. Think of it like running with an N95 mask vs. running without it – your engine can finally breathe free.
Lower EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature)
The high‑flow design reduces sustained EGT by 150–230°F (65–110°C). This protects your turbocharger (the #1 enemy of turbos is excessive EGT), extends head gasket life, and gives you peace of mind during heavy towing – no more worrying about temperature spikes on long grades.
Sharper Throttle Response
With less backpressure, exhaust flows faster, spooling the turbo sooner. Throttle response becomes more immediate and direct – turbo lag is noticeably reduced. Merging, passing, and climbing hills with a heavy trailer feel much more confident.
Better Fuel Economy
The engine runs more efficiently with improved combustion. DPF regeneration cycles are drastically reduced (or eliminated entirely) – and every regen cycle burns extra diesel fuel. That's real fuel savings you'll see at the pump.
And of course, with the No Muffler design, you get a deep, aggressive exhaust note. Turbo whistle is crystal clear, civil at cruise, and absolutely thunderous at wide‑open throttle.
| Comparison | 4" (This Kit) | 5" |
|---|---|---|
| Diameter | 4 inches | 5 inches |
| Exhaust Backpressure | Significantly reduced | Even lower (~85% reduction) |
| Horsepower Gain | Substantial | Similar to 4" – no notable difference |
| Low‑End Torque | ✅ Retains more low‑end torque for daily driving | ❌ Slight low‑end torque loss |
| Exhaust Note | Deep and powerful | Deeper, louder, more aggressive |
| Price | More affordable | Higher |
| Best For | Daily driving, heavy towing, best value | Ultimate sound, show trucks, max presence |
So which one should you choose?
High‑Performance Downpipe
The downpipe is the very first bottleneck in the exhaust system. Factory downpipes are typically narrower and use compromised bends to balance cost, noise, and emissions. Upgrade to a performance downpipe and you'll have a full large‑diameter path from turbo to tailpipe – backpressure drops even further, EGT falls more, and throttle response sharpens noticeably.
EGR Delete Kit
The EGR system recirculates soot‑laden exhaust gases back into the intake, causing carbon buildup on intake valves and manifold, dulling throttle response. With an EGR delete, the intake stays clean, EGT drops an additional 200–300°F (110–165°C), turbo spools faster, and the risk of EGR cooler failure is completely eliminated.
Downpipe‑Back Exhaust + Performance Downpipe + EGR Delete + ECU Tuning – this four‑step combination is the ultimate off‑road performance package for the L5P Duramax.
After removing the DPF and DOC, the ECU will immediately detect abnormal exhaust pressure and temperature readings.
If you don't tune it:
Solution:
This kit does not include tuning hardware or software. You will need a compatible L5P Duramax tuner (such as EZ Lynk) to flash the ECU – disabling DPF/DOC monitoring and optimizing fuel/turbo parameters. We strongly recommend completing the ECU tune before or simultaneously with the exhaust installation.
